Bedroom Storage For Small Spaces

Bedrooms are often tiny with not much space for anything but a bed, a wardrobe, and a desk. This can become a problem as the years go by because people accumulate possessions that will require bedroom storage. Without a proper home for each item, you will be forced to leave them out in the open where they will be an eyesore and a hazard. You might already be feeling this pain as your room is a cluttered mess. The first thing that you can do is to take all of them out and part ways with the items that no longer serve you. The second is to find new storage solutions and organize what’s left.

Under the Bed

If your bed has a hollow base, then you have a large empty space that should not be wasted. Those who can afford it might switch to a bed with actual drawers underneath. Others prefer models that allow you to lift from the top to reveal hidden items such as seasonal clothing and rarely used tools. However, you don’t really need all of those. Just use the existing frame to shield large objects that might not fit anywhere else such as an ironing board, vacuum cleaners, exercise equipment, and the like. Just use a bed frame skirt to hide these and keep a clean look.

Above the Cabinets

You might also want to consider idle vertical space. A lot of cabinets don’t reach the ceiling height. Instead, they come up to a height of six or seven feet. You have some room to work with, particularly if you have a tall ceiling. You could perhaps use box cubes for this area. They are usually about one foot on each side. See which items can fit these bedroom storage solutions. The ideal ones are those that you no longer use but can’t bear to throw away such as old photo albums, special gifts, and other mementos.

Dual-purpose Furniture

Lastly, think about adding or swapping dual-purpose furniture wherever they might fit. For example, those who require additional seating might get an ottoman that can also store things inside of it. There are also shoe racks that can double as a small bench. There are work desks that have built-in drawers underneath. There are mirrors and paintings that can hide jewelry and accessories. You could also maximize the existing storage spaces within TV stands, vanities, and whatever else that you have in your bedroom.
