Benefits Of LED Stadium Lighting

Stadium lighting usually makes it possible for matches to be played at night. This means that fans can come to the stadium at night and watch their favorite teams play. It takes a lot of energy to make this happen because most stadiums have thousands of incandescent or halogen lamps that consume a lot of power. This means that lighting up a stadium for a few hours a night can cost thousands of dollars in energy bills. After all, the energy consumed by the lighting system is enough to power dozens of homes for several months. This means that matches that are played at night under the illumination of stadium flood lights can significantly increase the operational costs of the stadium. Fortunately, there is a solution for this problem; LED lights.

LED stadium lighting can significantly reduce the cost of illuminating the entire station, both inside and outside, as well as overhead, quite considerably. Therefore, it is important for the management of stadiums and training grounds to consider replacing their current lighting systems with LEDs. Below are some of the many benefits of LED lights:

i) Energy-Efficient

As most people already know by now, LED lights are energy efficient. They run on low voltages and draw less power than incandescent and fluorescent lamps. They also produce brilliant white light, which is easy on the eyes. That is why they should be given priority consideration. They can significantly reduce the energy costs of a stadium by up to 60%, After all, incandescent lamps only emit 20% of their energy as light and 80% as heat while LEDs, use 80% of energy to produce light and waste only 20%. The difference in efficiency is 60%. This can translate to a significant amount of money over time. Therefore, the management of stadiums in the country should strongly consider using LEDs to light up their stadiums.

ii) Durable

Incandescent and halogen lamps often burn out after a few months. This means that they have to be replaced regularly. LEDs, on the other hand, can last several years. This means that you can save money on reduced replacement costs.

iii) Eco-Friendly

Even if the management of a stadium is not environmentally conscious, the people who will be paying to watch matches at the stadium are conscious of the environment. Therefore, the management should be willing to replace halogen and incandescent lamps with LEDs to protect mother nature. This can be achieved in three ways. For starters, LEDs, consume less energy, which is great news for the environment. Secondly, LEDs are made with materials that are 100% recyclable. Lastly, LEDs do not contain heavy metals, such as mercury and lead.
