Buying An Engagement Ring

Once you feel ready to pop the question, you should start looking for a ring that you can give during the proposal. There are a lot of options out there so you should be able to find one that checks everything on your list with a little patience. Here are some things that you should consider:

Cut

The shape of the gem will be the first thing that the recipient will notice. For most people, the best choice is a round one because they provide great brilliance and fire. They can reflect light from all angles. If you are aiming for sparkles, then this is the way to go. You may also check out the princess cut if you want a more angular shape. This is also popular and comes at a lower cost. There are also oval, half-moon, pear-shaped, and even heart-shaped gems. Different shapes go well with different pairs of hands.

Carat

This pertains to the weight of the gem. The higher it is, the bigger the diamond usually is. There are popular carat weights such as one-half, three-fourths, and one carat. Most rings will be sold with these specifications. However, there are also the odd ones that fall in between and these can prove to be the best finds if you are on a budget. They could, for example, contain only 0.9 carats instead of a full 1.00. It is difficult to distinguish one from the other with the naked eye. Go ahead and purchase this if it’s the only piece that fits your funds because the reality is that there is very little compromise.

Color

You should also consider the color and clarity of the gem. There are grades from J to D that buyers can rely on to determine the color of a diamond. A J grade means that it is near colorless but experts are able to detect some tints, though it is still a good value. On the other extreme, a D grade means that the item is absolutely colorless or described as icy white. This is considered as the highest color grade and is extremely rare. It is sure to be very expensive as most buyers prefer this type. There is also the issue of clarity which has minimal impact but still important to some.

Price

For many, the final purchase will be dictated by practicality. Everyone wants the best of the best but the reality is that we get the best that we can afford. If diamonds are too expensive, consider looking at Amora gem engagement rings. These are just as beautiful and brilliant yet they come at a lower cost.
