How To Create A Business Logo

A business logo can never be overlooked. It, in fact, could play a major role in how successful and memorable your business becomes. It’s important to create a business logo before you design a business card for your firm or choose hues for the company letterhead. The logo is also important because it forms the base for all other company materials such as packaging, stationery, signage, and promotional materials, to name a few. The following are some suggestions and tips to get your business logo right.

Appearance

A great logo should have a balanced, strong image with zero extras cluttering its appearance. The logo must be bold and distinctive in design, which should make it easy to recognise with just a glance. If there’s graphic imagery involved, it should match your business, and not stand out like a sore thumb. Choose the right font and the design should be classic enough to look equally good in both colour and black & white.

Tag Line

A company logo would usually have a tagline as an accompaniment. It communicates your business’ most important positives or/and the things you would like your customers to remember about your firm.
A great tag line is simple. It should flow well and look effortless. Complex sentences don’t make a good tag line. However, despite the simplicity, creating a tag line takes time, similar to the time needed for creating a great logo design. The tag line should have a high stickiness quotient, which means it should get etched into one’s memory.

Graphics and Colour

Through usage of graphics and colour, your business logo must reflect the image you want your firm to communicate. In other words, the colours and graphics should be able to convey to the audience what your company is all about. For example, if you are into selling organic beauty creams, your offerings must represent the best benefits of your products – such as being environmentally sound and all-natural.

A no-nonsense, simple logo for a firm that’s into organics should use a plain typeface and earth tones, which would give a more basic look that you really want. With neon colours, you could give the same item a high-tech, slick look. But, in such a case, people would not be able to connect your logo to your product’s down-to-earth nature.

Form

A logo can be an abstract symbol or logotype, which is basically a stylized presentation of your firm’s name. Both the forms can also be combined to make a single logo. However, an abstract symbol could be difficult to promote and could also be a bit too expensive for firms on a budget. Moreover, the logo would be harder to remember. A word mark or logo type, on the other hand, is easier to recall.
