Finding The Best Preschool Exercise Songs

While most preschoolers get more than enough exercise, some need a little more than regular due to a number of medical conditions. The problem is getting those children motivated and to keep interested in the exercise program they are on. Music is arguably one of the best ways to keep them motivated, but the problem is finding the right music to keep them motivated; fortunately, there is some great music out there will keep them going, and it is easy enough to make it part of their routine.

The Basics

The best preschool exercise songs are the ones that children are familiar with already. While this can mean the standards that we are all used to and even have ingrained into our memories, it can also include songs from the current generation as well. The best songs have a good tempo, easy to listen to lyrics, and preferably repetitive lyrics as well; the easier they are for the child to learn the sooner that the can become part of his routine. The songs should also be somewhat short, ideally less than three minutes, and be easy to find online, especially as videos. These songs should prove to be the skeleton of any good exercise soundtrack.

A Little More Fun

The best music for a preschooler is that that has a video, especially those that are animated and feature dancing. Animated videos should emphasize the lyrics and help to illustrate what is going on; they should be educational but only in the sense that the video is accurate to the lyrics. Also, children love dance videos; they like trying to figure out how the dancers move the way they do and that can help their motor skills. If possible look for bright, colorful videos with a strong beat; that should keep them interested in the music for far longer than softer songs with dull and saturated colors. Dance videos can also keep the children active beyond their allotted exercise time as well.

In essence, preschool exercise songs need to keep the child motivated to keep exercising, and care needs to taken when it comes to finding such music. It needs to be loud, brash, and fast; children like music with a fast beat that can be understood relatively easily, even if they do not know what the words mean. Backed by an animated or dance video that they can emulate, the music can be something that they will enjoy exercising for a long time.
