How To Choose Robotics Courses For Kids In Oakville

Robotics for kids oakville — not very long ago this was the topic of science fiction — something you watched in the movies with robots running amok. Nowadays, robots are part of our everyday lives and it is through learning more about them when young that will give your child a kick start in the world of robotics. Robotics not only gives pupils confidence and enjoyment through the process of designing and building but also develops their maths and logic skills.

There is a wide range of opportunities to explore robotics for kids oakville with there being two main types — after school/weekend programs and summer camps.

After school/weekend programs offer regular classes to students, with the sessions generally being grouped according to age. There are usually three age groups — six to twelve, twelve to fifteen and fifteen plus. Although STEM sessions are offered to children aged under six, robotics involves many small parts and more complex fine motor skills that younger children struggle with.

Summer camps are either online or in-person and are grouped to similar age ranges. The camp can be either whole or half-day and tend to last a week or two. They can be themed to add an additional level of interest or simply focused on one aspect of robotics such as Lego programming.

Summer camps are coeducational with there usually being a good mix, as well as bilingual. No previous experience is needed and there is no need to bring anything to the camp — all materials are provided and support is given to ignite interest and develop the individual skills of each child.
It is important to note that robotics classes and summer classes are solely based on robotics and coding. Unlike traditional camps where there is a wide variety of activities, it is understood that children attending these classes/camps enjoy robotics and programming and thus focus on the topic without the distraction of more traditional activities such as swimming or rollerblading etc.

Within classes/ camps, the emphasis is on programming and building — working with sensors and motors to design and program, starting from simple things such as traffic lights to walking bipedal robots.
Robotic classes and camps may be a new idea — but jump onto the bandwagon of development — empower your child to learn things that you only ever dreamt about — enrol them in robotics classes or a summer camp today and watch them learn more about the technology of the future.
