Costa Rica is usually located between two oceans in central America, and it usually offers great fishing experience, but the most exciting place to fish is the one that’s on the pacific coast.
While on costa Rica fishing excursions, there are several methods of fishing that one can apply and they include:
Surfcasting
This process involves casting a bait while someone is standing on the shoreline, and it’s usually appropriate when there is turbulence either at night or during sunset.
Boar angling
This is when someone who is fishing holds a rod in their hand, and then lets it go to the bottom so that it can catch as many fish as possible. This method allows the fisherman to catch large quantity of fish and especially those that are in the middle of seaweed.
Fly fishing
This method of fishing is done while someone is standing on the shore, and they normally use an insect as bait to attract the fish. The other method that is used is called lure fishing, and it involves using a lure to attract fish more fast. This skill is mainly used to catch different types of fish like perches, pike and also Bluefin tunas.
Trolling method
In this technique, a bait is usually put behind a boat that’s moving at a slow speed, and its mostly used to catch variety of fish such as; tunas, barracudas and also bonitos. The other method is popper fishing that’s used to catch more fish easily, and especially when there is strong wind or heavy seas
There are different places which one can go on fishing excursion while in costa Rica and they include:
Caribbean coast
This place has fresh water fish and its only accessible using a small plane or boat, and the best time to go fishing here is between the months of February to May and September to October.
Marina papagayo
The best time to go fishing here is between June and October and it’s the home of different types of fish such as dorado, tuna and sailfish.
Tamarindo
This place is appropriate for fishing all year round, and one is able to catch different types of fish each month. Tamarindo is also one of the best places in costa Rica for deep sea fishing. Other places include La Fortuna, crocodile Bay, and Jaco.
