The at-home chlamydia test is a urine test that can detect chlamydia in the urine. If you think you may have chlamydia, it’s important to know if your results are positive for this infection.
This at-home chlamydia test is used to determine if you have chlamydia and/or other STDs like gonorrhea or trichomoniasis (a yeast infection). It helps doctors determine which antibiotic treatment is right for your condition, so they know how best to treat it!
Is the at-home Chlamydia test Right for me?
If you are sexually active and have symptoms of chlamydia, the at-home Chlamydia test may be right for you.
If your partner has been diagnosed with chlamydia, then the at-home Chlamydia test could be helpful. It could also be used to confirm that a person has been exposed to infection if they have recently had unprotected sex with someone who tested positive for the disease.
How do I use the At-home chlamydia test?
There are several steps to take when using a at-home chlamydia test. First, you need to take a sample of your urine or vaginal fluid and place it in the provided container. The test will then be sent off for analysis within 24 hours of receiving your sample—if no problems arise with this step, simply wait for results!
If you have symptoms of chlamydia that appear during this time (fever/chills), seek medical attention as soon as possible.
If you are pregnant and wish not to infect yourself or others with Chlamydia trachomatis, speak with your doctor about whether or not there is any alternative treatment options available for pregnant women who may be infected with Chlamydia trachomatis
How will I get my Results?
You will receive your results online, by phone and in person. Your test results will be ready for you to view within 1-2 days of submitting the sample.
We strongly recommend that you take a sample directly from the cervix, as this is where most cases of chlamydia occur. If you don’t have access to a speculum or other method of taking a sample at home (for example, if there’s not enough time), please call a helpline before sending any samples off for testing so they can guide you through how best to collect them safely and securely.
What if I have Chlamydia?
If you have chlamydia, it’s important to get tested for the infection. Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the United States and can cause serious health problems if left untreated.
There are FEW ways to get tested: at a health center, by your doctor or yourself. If you feel comfortable having a test done at home (or if you don’t have access to those services), then do it yourself! Your doctor will probably recommend that you get tested again after treatment, so they know whether their medication worked or not.
Meet with a clinician as soon as possible to help you decide on the best treatment option for you.
If you have symptoms of chlamydia, and they’re not severe enough to warrant an appointment with a clinician currently, we recommend meeting with a clinician as soon as possible. A clinician can help you decide on the best treatment option for your needs. Treatment options include antibiotics and other medications.
