It isn’t hard to see why Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world, and one of the best ways to experience its many attractions is by staying in a vacation home instead of a hotel. Vacations rentals in central Paris are less expensive than most hotel rooms, and have the added bonus of allowing you to save further by cooking and eating meals in your rental apartment.
Most Parisians live in apartments, and you may not get as much space as a hotel room would provide, but the immersion into the French way of life more than compensates for that. As a general rule, the further from the center of Paris you stay, the more space your rental apartment will offer, although the city’s efficient metro system makes it easy to get anywhere, regardless of where you stay. The Metro runs late into the night and is clean, affordable and safe.
However, you may want to give some thought to the area in which you stay, especially if it’s your first time visiting the city. Vacation rentals can be found all over the city, with many in the main tourist area around the Louvre Museum and the classy shops that the city is known for. Staying here puts you within walking distance not only of the Louvre, one of the world’s great museums, but also of Notre Dame cathedral and the Royal Palace.
Other neighborhoods are a little further out from the center, but just as desirable when it comes to deciding where to stay. The hilly area of Montmartre has always been known for its artistic associations and today, it is still the place to go to see artists at work in the area’s main square, or to walk in the footsteps of Van Gogh, Picasso and Utrillo. Also within walking distance is the huge flea market at Porte de Clignancourt, one of the largest in the world. Montmartre is best explored by walking, although several Metro stops can have you anywhere else in the city within minutes. Other popular areas to stay include the streets around the Arc de Triomphe, the Latin Quarter and the Opera area.
But regardless of where you stay, renting a vacation home in central Paris is a wonderful way to become a part of the fabric of this wonderful city, and many repeat visitors to Paris prefer the experience to staying in a hotel. Saving money on vacation is usually a priority for many, and renting an apartment also has the big advantage of being a lot cheaper.
