What is An Authentic Shungite?
It is a mineral of volcanic origin, mainly composed of phyllo-silicate with admixtures of other minerals. It was formed approximately 2.5 billion years ago when the rocks were exposed to high temperature and pressure during the formation of natural gas reservoirs in large geysers, which erupted over 3 million years. During eruptions, visible shells were formed under strong pressure due to the movement of tectonic plates forming plate mountains. The largest deposits are located on the North West shoreline of Lake Onega, where it is mined for production. Other sources are located in Russia, Africa, Canada, and even Bulgaria. There are many varieties synthesized artificially with similar qualities as authentic Shungite. Still, they lack information stored by mother nature inside its crystal structure and, as such, lack the same powerful energy.
How to tell if shungite is Authentic?
Ethically mined in its original location; Look for the authenticity label on all vials, bracelets, etc. The pure black color with no other colors or impurities appears inside a pure shungite stone or fragment. Fractured appearance due to elasticity of crystal structure — Stronger the fracture — stronger the energy — perfect for jewelry-making. Some shungites have white patches called moonstone, which indicate that the Moon Goddess has blessed this particular stone. Know what you are buying!
